Braille Embossers
Braille embosser is a hardware device used for printing computer generated text in Braille format. A Braille embosser is also known as a Braille printer. Braille embossers are used in combination with Braille translation programs.
A Braille embosser can be connected to the computer just like a standard printer. The appearance and operation of a Braille embosser is also similar to the standard printer attached to the computer. Difference between a Braille embosser and a standard printer is that Braille embossers use heavy weight paper and are slower and noisier as compared to a standard printer.
Translation software needs to be used in order to convert the computer generated text documents in to Braille format. The documents thus converted can be printed using a Braille embosser. Different Braille translation programs are capable of converting scanned documents and documents created using the basic word processors in to Braille format, which can then be printed using a Braille embosser.
A Braille embosser is capable of printing text documents as well as graphics. Braille graphic software is required to convert the standard graphic file format in to the format required for printing. Graphics thus printed are also referred to as Braille graphics.
Braille embossers come in different sizes and shapes. The cost of a Braille embosser depends on its production capacity. Larger the production, higher will be the cost and vice versa. Braille embosser is a cost-effective tool capable of producing large amount of material in Braille format in quick time. A Braille embosser allows to print Braille documents on single side of a paper as well as both the sides.
Braille embossers are required to provide printed documents, text books, magazines and other important documents in Braille format to people with visual disabilities, such as blindness. People with visual disabilities require the information in Braille format as they can not read printed documents. In addition to blind people, deaf-blind people require the information to be provided in Braille format for reading it.
