Activate ToggleKeys
To activate the ToggleKeys feature in Windows XP, do the following:
- Click on the Start button and select Control Panel. The Control Panel window appears.
- In Control Panel, ensure that Classic view is selected. (All Control Panel icons are visible.) To switch to Classic view, click on Switch to Classic View from the left pane of the Control Panel window.
- Double-click the Accessibility Options icon. The Accessibility Options dialog box appears.
- From the Keyboard tab, select the Use ToggleKeys check box.
- Click on the Apply button and then click on the OK button to close the Accessibility Options dialog box.
- Close the Control Panel window.
Try It Yourself
With the ToggleKeys feature turned on, let’s do a small exercise to find out how it works:
- Press the Num lock key to turn it on. Did you hear the system generating a high-pitch sound?
- Now press the Num lock key again to turn it off. Did you hear the system generating a low-pitch sound?
You can carry out the same exercise with the Caps lock key and Scroll lock key.
