Activate StickyKeys
In Windows XP, StickyKeys option is found in the Accessibility Options dialog box in Control Panel. To activate StickyKeys in Windows XP, do the following:
- Click on the Start button and select Control Panel. The Control Panel window appears.
- In Control Panel, ensure that Classic view is selected. (All Control Panel icons are visible.) To switch to Classic view, click on Switch to Classic View from the left pane of the Control Panel window.
- Double-click the Accessibility Options icon. The Accessibility Options dialog box appears.
- From the Keyboard tab, select the Use StickyKeys check box.
- Click on the Apply button and then click on the OK button to close the Accessibility Options dialog box.
- Close the Control Panel window.
Try It Yourself
With the StickyKeys option turned on, let’s open the Run dialog box using the keyboard shortcut Windows logo key + R.
- Press the Windows logo key.
- Press the R key. The Run dialog box is activated.
Did you notice you were able to press one key at a time and carry out the task associated with the keystroke?
Now try out other shortcuts, such as CTRL + S to save a document, CTRL + O to open a document etc.
